April 23, 2025 – The AAPACN 2025 Conference has brought together more than 800 dedicated nurses and healthcare professionals from the post-acute care sector this week in Louisville, Kentucky. The event, hosted by the American Association of Post-Acute Care Nursing (AAPACN), serves as a vital platform for education, networking, and addressing the current challenges facing skilled nursing facilities.
In her opening address, AAPACN President and CEO, Tracey Moorhead, acknowledged the significant stress that members and skilled nursing facilities are experiencing amidst ongoing regulatory uncertainty. “We understand the pressures our members are facing and want to reassure them that AAPACN is here to support them as a steadfast resource for information and federal regulatory guidance,” she stated.
A key highlight of Moorhead’s address was the announcement of a new partnership with Chamberlain University School of Nursing, reinforcing AAPACN’s commitment to expanding the post-acute care workforce. Together, AAPACN and Chamberlain University are developing a practice-ready course focused on post-acute care.
Moorhead emphasized the importance of this collaboration: “Building a robust pipeline of skilled nurses is crucial for the future of post-acute care. This partnership with Chamberlain University will not only enhance education but also ensure that future nurses are well-prepared to meet the challenges unique to caring for post-acute care residents.”
“Chamberlain University’s Practice Ready. Specialty Focused. ® (PRSF) courses have been invaluable in preparing the next generation of nursing professionals as they learn specialties that provide quality care for patients and further address the ongoing nursing shortage,” said Dr. Karen Cox, President, Chamberlain University. “We are thrilled to partner with AAPACN on our next PRSF course, offering hands-on training in post-acute care nursing and helping students gain the knowledge and important skills needed to thrive in this specialty and beyond.”
The conference will feature keynote presentations from rock drummer and motivational storyteller, Sandy Gennaro, and mindfulness educator and author, Gina Rollo White.
