Every October, nurse assessment coordinators (NACs) nervously anticipate what Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) User’s Manual changes will impact their primary duties and workflows. Some years bring massive changes, which result in policy changes. In other years, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issues just a few changes. While 2024 appears to be a small update year, the new MDS items still bring some big changes. From the removal of all section GG goals to new instructions for coding septicemia, there is a lot to consider.
Join AAPACN Curriculum Development Specialist, Jessie McGill, RN, BSN, RAC-MT, RAC-MTA, for this 75-minute webinar to review the key 2024 RAI User’s Manual updates and strategies to successfully adjust to these changes.
After participating in this webinar, learners will be able to:
- Recognize how the removal of the section GG goals may impact workflows and care planning
- Identify the new coding instructions for septicemia and best practices to secure supporting documentation
- Understand the process for how the team will identify if COVID-19 and Pneumococcal vaccines are up to date
- Comprehend the four reasons a manual deletion may be required for MDS corrections
