The FY 2027 ICD-10-CM coding updates take effect on Oct. 1, 2026, and now is the time for nursing facilities to prepare. Accurate ICD-10-CM coding is essential for HIPAA compliance and supports accurate MDS coding, Medicare claims, PDPM classification, and reimbursement. During this 75-minute webinar, AAPACN Curriculum Development Specialist Jennifer LaBay, RN, RAC-MT, RAC-MTA, CRC, will break down the FY 2027 ICD-10-CM changes that matter most to long-term care. You will review updates to the Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting and learn about new and revised diagnosis codes—including changes for secondary oral, laryngeal, and pharyngeal cancers, arrhythmias, cardiomyopathies, plantar fasciitis, osteomyelitis, and body-mass index (BMI) classification. The session will conclude with practical steps you should take before Oct. 1 to ensure coding systems, resident records, and interdisciplinary workflows are ready for implementation.
After participating in this webinar, you will be able to:
