For a second year, analysts at INOVALON compared CMS Five-Star site-of-care data with AAPACN certification data for facilities employing at least one staff member holding a Resident Assessment Coordinator-Certified (RAC-CT™), Director of Nurse Services-Certified (DNS-CT™), or QAPI Certified Professional (QCP™) certification and found a positive correlation between star rating and AAPACN certification. Marketing analytics expert, Harry Vanderburg, will walk attendees through the findings in this year’s report including:

  • Improvements in star ratings with:
    • One certified staff
    • Two or more certified staff
    • Certified staff and facility using INOVALON Carewatch/Infectionwatch
  • Impact of certified staff on the number and severity of survey deficiencies
  • Performance in facilities with staff who have been certified for more than one year

Leading nurse educators, Laurie Laxton, principal clinical educator with INOVALON, and Maureen McCarthy, president of Celtic Consulting and MDS Rescue, will discuss how AAPACN certified staff are driving these data trends through:

  • Accurate assessment and coding
  • Proper care planning
  • Focus on quality care initiatives
