Q: Does anyone know the regulations about humidity levels in a med storage room? Our pharmacy indicated that several facilities are being tagged on not monitoring humidity but could not tell us what the proper humidity levels should be.
A: F-tag 761 in Appendix PP: “Because many medications can be altered by exposure to improper temperature, light, or humidity, it is important that the facility implement procedures that address and monitor the safe storage and handling of medications in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications, State requirements and standards of practice (e.g., United States Pharmacopeia (USP) standards).”
I think a consulting pharmacist should be able to provide that information to you.
