The nursing component of the Patient-Driven Payment Model (PDPM) could not be covered in just one webinar. This webinar picks up where PDPM Nursing Component Clarified: Part 1 left off. The nursing component classifies the resident into one of the six clinical categories using conditions, diagnoses, treatments, and other clinical items. The first three categories were detailed in part 1, as well as the section GG Functional Score classifications that will also apply to the remaining three categories.

During this 60-minute webinar, AAPACN curriculum development specialist, Jennifer LaBay, RN, RAC-MT, RAC-MTA, CRC, will walk participants through the complex path of the final three nursing component clinical categories and uncover the key elements needed to fully understand the methodology of Clinically Complex, Behavioral Symptoms and Cognitive Performance, and Reduced Physical Function.

After participating in this session, learners will be able to:

  • Identify the MDS items used to qualify for the Clinically Complex, Behavioral Symptoms and Cognitive Performance, and Reduced Physical Function clinical categories
  • Apply the nursing component methodology to project a final case-mix group (CMG) based on clinical indicators
