Infection preventionists gather a lot of data to do their jobs; however, to be effective, the data they gather must be intentional and actionable. During this 60-minute webinar, Laura Velasco, MSN, RN, CIC, and Emily Bouzek, MSN, RN, CIC, LTC-CIP, will equip infection preventionists with the foundational knowledge and practical tools to design and execute a robust infection surveillance plan in long-term care settings. Learn how to conduct facility assessments, select surveillance measures, gather and analyze data from varied sources, and convert those insights into actionable quality improvement measures. Discussion will include multiple metrics related to antibiotic stewardship, including the creation of a facility-specific antibiogram.

After participating in this webinar, learners will be able to:

  • Start an infection prevention surveillance program
  • Determine which focus to tackle via surveillance using a facility assessment
  • Put surveillance measures for antibiotics in place
  • Implement the use of an antibiogram and collaborate with the pharmacy

This webinar is hosted by AAPACN and presented by APIC.
