A poorly written care plan can have many adverse effects on both the resident and the facility team. Residents may have unmet needs, experience a decline in overall health, and feel dissatisfied with the care they receive. The facility team may face survey citations and potential civil money penalties if care plan requirements are not followed, if the care plan is not implemented as written, or if the team fails to address the residents’ needs. During this 60-minute webinar, AAPACN Curriculum Development Specialist, Jessie McGill, RN, BSN, RAC-MT, RAC-MTA, will address common care plan pitfalls and provide strategies to fix them.
After participating in this webinar, learners will be able to:
- Identify the regulatory requirements for care plans
- Recognize generic care plans that need to be individualized
- Develop care plans that address the resident’s needs, preferences, and cultural values
- Implement strategies for continuous improvement and compliance with care plan regulations
