Highlights from the 2019 AANAC and AADNS Conference in Orlando

The 2019 AANAC and AADNS Conference in Orlando, FL on April 3 – 5, 2019, was by far the largest AANAC or AADNS conference yet, with more than 1,300 attendees, 48 exhibitors, 8 sponsors, and 29 speakers. The annual meeting highlighted AANAC’s 20th anniversary, AADNS’s continued success, and the launch of a new parent organization, the American Association of Post-Acute Care Nursing (AAPACN).

The annual meeting was a two-and-a-half-day event full of learning about the latest best practices and regulation updates in long-term and post-acute care, connecting with industry peers and experts, and having lots of fun! If you were unable to attend or would like a chance to look back on all of the good times and important information you learned, below are some highlights.

Opening Session – 20/20 Focus on the Future: A Panel Discussion with Post-Acute Care Leaders

At this year’s conference, we kicked things off with our big announcement and welcome by our new President and CEO, Tracey Moorhead, as well as a panel discussion about the future of post-acute care with the AAPACN Board of Directors. Watch the Facebook Live short segment here.

Opening Reception

Attendees networked, learned about some of the most innovative products and services in the industry from our exhibitors, and enjoyed some delicious food and drinks at the Opening Reception.

First-Timer Meet and Greet

During the First-Timer Meet and Greet, attendees made it magically snow in Florida! They also learned a little about what everyone was looking forward to most this year at conference and established connections that we hope will last throughout their careers or longer!

Outstanding Sessions by LTPAC Experts

We had some amazing speakers this year that covered an important range of topics for the NAC, DNS, or centered around PDPM!

Evening Networking Event

MED-PASS celebrated its 30th anniversary at the Evening Networking Event at the 2019 AANAC and AADNS Conference. They provided attendees with a great evening of desserts, drinks, dancing, photos, and fun! Watch the Facebook Live for evidence of a good time!

2019 Updates from CMS

CMS representatives, Evan Shulman and John Kane, joined us in-person this year to share valuable information on the latest national initiatives by CMS that impact the everyday care of nursing home residents and the staff that care for them. They covered topics such as MDS assessment, Payroll-Based Journal, the Five-Star Quality Rating System, the Quality Reporting Program, and the federal survey processes. They also addressed a few questions submitted by members and LTC experts.
