5 Things You Can Expect at the AAPACN 2022 Conference

AAPACN’s in-person conference is back and is just around the corner! The AAPACN 2022 Conference will be held this year in Las Vegas, NV on April 12 – 14, and will be a chance for long-term and post-acute care nursing professionals from all over the country to come together again and reunite to gain some of the best education, knowledge, and ideas in the field from peers and experts. So what should attendees expect at this year’s event?

1. Outstanding Speakers and Top-Notch Sessions Relevant to Today’s Issues

This year’s event will stand out with an impressive selection of speakers highlighting important topics for long-term and post-acute care today.

A few highlights include:

Dynamic Catalyst Sessions presented by McKesson

Day One

Galen Emanuele, President of Shift Yes, will open the conference with the first Catalyst Session, “Culture & Retention Unlocked: Clarity, Commitment, Consistency.” This engaging session will fundamentally transform how participants approach and drive culture and employee experience in their organizations. In the process, participants will also gain critical communication skills to increase their self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and the impact they have on others. Laugh and learn while gaining knowledge, tools, and takeaway resources to put into practice immediately.

Day Two

The second Catalyst Session will be “Strength and Resilience: Lessons Learned from the Public Health Emergency.” The public health emergency brought several challenges to long-term care facilities, but also opportunities to learn. Although the pandemic added stress and pressure, it also strengthened staff and provided detailed data that is now being used to better understand and improve processes. Ruth Katz, Senior Vice President of Policy for Leading Age, and Dr. Nimalie Stone, Senior Advisor for Long-Term Care Partnerships in the Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, will discuss how the pandemic will positively impact future care.

Updates from CMS

CMS representatives will share valuable information about the current national initiatives that impact the everyday care of nursing home residents and the staff who care for them.

Breakout Session Highlights

The breakout sessions this year will help attendees gain new perspective on areas they need to succeed in, such as employee onboarding and retention, MDS coding, emergency preparedness, person-centered care, documentation, PDPM, Quality Measures, infection control, ICD-10, and more. There are also sessions to help address the latest challenges, to learn how to survive setbacks, and avoid missed opportunities.

2. In-Person Workshop Opportunities to Expand Professional Growth

AAPACN will host onsite education and certification preconference workshops as a convenient way for attendees to achieve certification, recertify, or boost their professional growth before the conference starts. This year’s workshops will include:
