Translate Your Data into Action

QAPI is a data-driven approach to improving the quality of care and services provided in a facility; however, the full potential of QAPI is often missed. Instead, it becomes just another of many monthly or quarterly meetings.

Learn how to translate your data into actionable information and drive performance improvement. AAPACN’s QAPI Certified Professional (QCP) certification program provides practical and relevant quality improvement education that you can apply in all aspects of QAPI.

Learning objectives include:

  • Demonstrate how to use facility data to create improvement plans
  • Understand the steps to conduct a thorough root cause analysis
  • Know how to set thresholds and surveillance benchmarks to measure facility progress
  • Explain when a PIP is needed versus an action plan

QCP Recertification

Application –  Non-members: $244 | AHCA Members: $122
Exam – Non-members: $244 | AHCA Members: $122

The QCP recertification is available to individuals who have already earned their QCP certification. Once you have achieved your QCP, it is valid for four years from your certification completion date. You must complete the recertification requirements before your expiration date in order to maintain your credential.

Note: Purchasing recertification courses does not extend the expiration date of your credential. The expiration date for your credential remains the same, regardless of when your course materials expire.

QCP Recertification Requirements

You have two options for completing the requirements for recertification.

Option 1:

  • Pass the exam for QCP Recertification

Option 2:

  • Submit a recertification application
  • Complete a minimum of 1,000 practice hours in long-term or post-acute care within the four years preceding the recertification application submission
  • Complete at least 80 hours of continuing education within the four years preceding the renewal application submission or complete an approved professional development activity equivalent, or a combination of the two.
    • At least 15 hours must be in QAPI or quality improvement areas related to the QCP domains.
    • The remaining 65 hours can be for any healthcare-approved CE that meets licensure requirements (for a total of 80 hours).

Save the documentation to support your continuing education credits. AAPACN conducts random audits of renewal applications. If your application is selected for audit, you will be required to submit all supporting documents. Please maintain a copy of your renewal application and the supporting certificates and other documents for the entire two-year certification period in order to satisfy any audit requests.

If you do not meet the recertification requirements by the expiration date of your certification, you will no longer be entitled to use the QCP credential. If you choose to recertify after your certification has lapsed, you will be required to retake and pass the QCP certification exam.
